Sec. 30. (a) The board shall appoint a director of the division of public health to serve for a term of four (4) years unless sooner removed for cause. The director is eligible for reappointment and serves until a successor is appointed and qualified. The director must hold a license to practice medicine in Indiana.
(b) After June 30, 2021, the appointment of the director of the division of public health is subject to the approval of the city-county council. If the city-county council fails to approve a nominated individual on two (2) separate occasions, the individual is barred from further consideration for the position.
