Terms Used In Iowa Code 182.2

  • Assessment: means an excise tax on the sale of sheep or wool as provided in this chapter. See Iowa Code 182.1
  • Board: means the Iowa sheep and wool promotion board established pursuant to section 182. See Iowa Code 182.1
  • District: means an official crop reporting district formed by the United States department of agriculture and set out in the annual farm census published by the Iowa department of agriculture and land stewardship. See Iowa Code 182.1
  • following: when used by way of reference to a chapter or other part of a statute mean the next preceding or next following chapter or other part. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • Secretary: means the secretary of agriculture. See Iowa Code 182.1
 Upon receipt of a petition signed by at least fifty producers in each district requesting a referendum by election to determine whether to establish the board and to impose an assessment, the secretary shall call a referendum to be conducted within sixty days following receipt of the petition.
