Terms Used In Iowa Code 261.14

  • Financial need: means the difference between the student's financial resources available, including those available from the student's parents as determined by a completed parents' confidential statement, and the student's anticipated expenses while attending an eligible institution. See Iowa Code 261.87
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" may include the said district and territories. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • Student: means a person who enrolls in or seeks to enroll in a course of instruction offered or conducted by a school. See Iowa Code 261B.2
 If a student receives financial aid under any other program the full amount of such financial aid shall be considered part of the student’s financial resources available in determining the amount of the student’s financial need for that period. In no case may the state‘s total financial contribution to the student’s education, including financial aid under any other state program, exceed the tuition and mandatory fees at the institution which the student attends.
