  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

The secretary of state, or his assistants or examiners, may make examinations or audits as provided in Kan. Stat. Ann. § 17-1312a. For such purpose the secretary of state, his assistants and examiners, are authorized to administer oaths and to examine under oath the directors, officers, employees and agents of any cemetery corporation. Such examination may be reduced to writing by the person making it and may contain a statement of the condition of each permanent maintenance fund examined.
