  • Joint committee: Committees including membership from both houses of teh legislature. Joint committees are usually established with narrow jurisdictions and normally lack authority to report legislation.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201

Not later than November 1 of each year, the executive, judicial and legislative chief information technology officers shall submit to the joint committee and to the legislative research department all information technology project budget estimates and amendments and revisions thereto, all three-year plans and all deviations from the state information technology architecture submitted to such officers pursuant to Kan. Stat. Ann. § 75-7209, and amendments thereto. The joint committee shall review all such estimates and amendments and revisions thereto, plans and deviations and shall make recommendations to the house standing committee on appropriations and the senate standing committee on ways and means regarding the merit thereof and appropriations therefor.
