Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 23:1628

  • Administrator: means the secretary of the Louisiana Workforce Commission. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 23:1472
  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
  • Commission: means the Louisiana Workforce Commission. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 23:1
  • Secretary: means the secretary of the commission. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 23:1

            To hear and decide appealed claims, the secretary of the Louisiana Workforce Commission shall with the approval of the governor appoint one or more impartial appeal referees all of whom shall complete a course of study prescribed by the administrator of the Louisiana Workforce Commission, by rule, to ensure competency prior to their participation in any claim resolution under this Chapter. Each referee shall be selected in accordance with La. Rev. Stat. 23:1656 and 1657. No referee shall participate in any case in which he is an interested party. The secretary may designate alternates to serve in the absence or disqualification of any referee.
