Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 25:380.1

  • Ex officio: Literally, by virtue of one's office.

            A. The governing board of the Louisiana State Cotton Museum is hereby created in the Department of State.

            B. The domicile of the board shall be in the parish of East Carroll.

            C.(1) The board shall be composed of members who all have a knowledge of and an interest in cotton and cotton production.

            (2) The board shall be composed of the following members:

            (a) Five members shall be appointed by the secretary of state from a list of ten names submitted and nominated by the legislative delegation from the parishes of East Carroll, West Carroll, Madison, Franklin, Richland, Morehouse, Ouachita, Tensas, Caldwell, and Concordia from an area composed of the following parishes: East Carroll, West Carroll, Madison, Franklin, Richland, Morehouse, Ouachita, Tensas, Caldwell, and Concordia.

            (b) Six members shall be appointed by the secretary of state from a list of ten names submitted and nominated by the Friends of the Louisiana State Cotton Museum.

            (c) The secretary of state or his designee shall serve as a member.

            (d) The museum chief administrative officer and the museum director, if any, shall each be an ex officio member of the board.

            D. Each appointed member shall be confirmed by the Senate and shall serve a term concurrent with the secretary of state. Each member shall serve until his successor is appointed and takes office.

            E. Members of the board shall serve without compensation.
