  • Agent: means a person or that person's representative who has been licensed under this chapter to sell lottery tickets on behalf of the State from the physical premises of the licensee's retail business establishment. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 8 Sec. 371
  • Billing period: means the time period for payment agreed to by 2 parties or, in the absence of an agreement, the calendar month within which work is performed. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1111
  • Commission: means the State Liquor and Lottery Commission established in Title 5, section 283?A. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 8 Sec. 371
  • Community school district: means a state-approved unit of school administration composed of more than one municipality or school administrative district which may provide public education for any combination of kindergarten through grade 12. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
  • Construction contract: means any agreement, whether written or oral, to perform or to supply materials for work on any real property. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1111
  • Contractor: means a person or entity that contracts with an owner to perform work on real property. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1111
  • Delivery: means receipt by addressee, including, but not limited to, by first class, registered or certified mail, or by hand delivery or transmitted by facsimile machine. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1111
  • Director: means the Director of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 8 Sec. 371
  • District board of trustees: means a body with statutory powers and duties for a community school district. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
  • District school committee: means the governing body with statutory powers and duties for a community school district. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
  • Forgery: The fraudulent signing or alteration of another's name to an instrument such as a deed, mortgage, or check. The intent of the forgery is to deceive or defraud. Source: OCC
  • Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
  • Interest rate: The amount paid by a borrower to a lender in exchange for the use of the lender's money for a certain period of time. Interest is paid on loans or on debt instruments, such as notes or bonds, either at regular intervals or as part of a lump sum payment when the issue matures. Source: OCC
  • Kindergarten: means a one-year or 2-year childhood education program, for children at least 5 years of age, immediately prior to grade one. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
  • lands: includes lands and all tenements and hereditaments connected therewith, and all rights thereto and interests therein. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
  • Material supplier: means any person or entity that has furnished or contracted to furnish materials or supplies in connection with a construction contract. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1111
  • Owner: includes successors in interest of the owner and agents of the owner acting within their authority. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1111
  • Person: means an individual, association, corporation, limited liability company, limited partnership, limited liability partnership, partnership, club, trust, estate, society, company, receiver, trustee, assignee, referee or other person acting in a fiduciary or representative capacity, whether appointed by a court or otherwise, and any combination of individuals. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 8 Sec. 371
  • Previous education unit: means a state-approved unit of school administration that was responsible for operating or constructing public schools prior to the reorganization of school administrative units pursuant to chapter 103?A. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
  • Real estate: includes lands and all tenements and hereditaments connected therewith, and all rights thereto and interests therein. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
  • Real property: means real estate, including lands, leaseholds, tenements and hereditaments and improvements placed on real estate. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1111
  • Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land.
  • Regional school unit: means the state-approved unit of school administration as established pursuant to chapter 103?A. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
  • Regional school unit board: means the board of directors that is the governing body with statutory powers and duties of a regional school unit. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
  • School administrative district: means a state-approved unit of school administration, composed of one or more municipalities which must provide public education to all public school students in the district. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
  • School administrative unit: means the state-approved unit of school administration and includes a municipal school unit, school administrative district, community school district, regional school unit or any other municipal or quasi-municipal corporation responsible for operating or constructing public schools, except that it does not include a career and technical education region. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
  • School board: means the governing body with statutory powers and duties for a school administrative unit. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
  • School committee: means the governing body with statutory powers and duties for a municipal school unit. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
  • Secondary school: means that portion of a school that provides instruction in any combination of grades 9 through 12. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
  • State board: means the State Board of Education. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
  • Subcontractor: means any person or entity that has contracted to perform work for or provide services to a contractor or another subcontractor in connection with a construction contract. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1111
  • Superintendent: means the person in a school administrative unit or school union appointed and having the authority and responsibility under this Title and other applicable statutes. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
  • Work: means to build, alter, repair or demolish any improvement on, connected with or beneath the surface of any real property, or to excavate, clear, grade, fill or landscape any real property, to construct driveways, private roadways, highways and bridges, drilled wells, septic systems, sewage systems or utilities, to furnish materials for any of those purposes or to perform labor upon real property.
