1. Report. By October 1, 2023 and annually thereafter, an institution of higher education shall prepare and submit to the commissioner, the Commissioner of Health and Human Services and the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over higher education matters the annual security report required under the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, 20 United States Code § 1092(f).

  • Commissioner: means the Commissioner of Education or the commissioner's designee. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
  • institution: means a public, private, nonprofit or for-profit postsecondary school chartered, incorporated or otherwise organized in the State with an established physical presence in the State. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 12981
  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
