Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 7303

  • Inhabitant: means a person having an established residence in a place. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
  • Lawful age: means the age of 18 and over. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
  • Liabilities: The aggregate of all debts and other legal obligations of a particular person or legal entity.
  • Municipality: includes cities, towns and plantations, except that "municipality" does not include plantations in Title 10, chapter 110, subchapter IV; or Title 30?A, Part 2. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
  • Service of process: The service of writs or summonses to the appropriate party.
When municipalities are deorganized by a repeal of their charters, and their liabilities are excepted and reserved by the repealing act, legal service of process to collect those liabilities may be made on any inhabitant of lawful age residing in the territory included in the municipality, provided that there are no legal officers in that territory on whom service can be made.
