- Community college: means an educational institution providing collegiate and noncollegiate level education primarily to individuals above the twelfth grade age level within commuting distance. See Michigan Laws 389.105
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. The public safety department or police department of each community college shall submit monthly uniform crime reports pertaining to crimes within the department’s jurisdiction to the department of state police in the same manner as uniform crime reports are submitted under section 1 of 1968 PA 319, MCL 28.251.
