  • Community college: means an educational institution providing collegiate and noncollegiate level education primarily to individuals above the twelfth grade age level within commuting distance. See Michigan Laws 389.105
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, as well as to individuals. See Michigan Laws 8.3l
   If a vacancy in the board of trustees occurs, the remaining members of the board by majority vote shall fill the vacancy immediately with a qualified elector of the community college district. Except as provided in section 83, any person so appointed shall hold office until the next regular community college election held for the election of members to the board of trustees in the community college district at which time the electors of the community college district shall fill the office for the unexpired portion of the term.
