Terms Used In Michigan Laws 399.409

  • Department: means the department of state. See Michigan Laws 399.302
  • Maritime museum: means the Michigan maritime museum situated in South Haven and operated under authority of this act. See Michigan Laws 399.302
  • Maritime museum trust fund: means the Michigan maritime museum trust fund created by section 108. See Michigan Laws 399.302
  • Markup: The process by which congressional committees and subcommittees debate, amend, and rewrite proposed legislation.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
   The department may operate a maritime artifact conservation service at the maritime museum. If provided, the service may be made available to the general public and to state, federal, and local agencies. The department may charge a reasonable fee for this service, including a markup that is commensurate with industry practice. Money received for conservation services shall be credited to the maritime museum trust fund.
