  • Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020

Whenever any such settlement shall be made, the court shall cause duplicate copies of the record thereof to be certified and delivered, one to the county treasurer and the other to the clerk of the county commission, and the county treasurer shall be charged by the clerk of the county commission with the sums appearing thereby to be due to the state and to the county, respectively.
