  • Advice and consent: Under the Constitution, presidential nominations for executive and judicial posts take effect only when confirmed by the Senate, and international treaties become effective only when the Senate approves them by a two-thirds vote.
  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020

Within ninety days after this law becomes effective the governor shall, by and with the advice and consent of the senate, appoint five commissioners of the Tennessee-Missouri Bridge Commission created by compact between the states of Missouri and Tennessee. If the senate is not in session at the time for making any appointment, the governor shall make a temporary appointment as in case of a vacancy. All commissioners so appointed shall be qualified voters of the state of Missouri and shall reside within the county of Pemiscot, Missouri, or counties adjacent thereto.
