Terms Used In Missouri Laws 325.055

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies politic and corporate, and to partnerships and other unincorporated associations. See Missouri Laws 1.020
  • Property: includes real and personal property. See Missouri Laws 1.020

No person, partnership, association or corporation, directly or indirectly, acting as a public adjuster or public adjuster solicitor licensed under the provisions of sections 325.010 to 325.055, may solicit, or enter into, an agreement for the repair or replacement of damaged property on which said public adjuster or public adjuster solicitor has been engaged to adjust or settle claims for losses or damages arising out of policies of fire or allied lines of insurances.
