  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Reporter: Makes a record of court proceedings and prepares a transcript, and also publishes the court's opinions or decisions (in the courts of appeals).
  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020

In every contested case, or case in which the evidence is to be preserved, except for the collection of delinquent or back taxes, before any circuit judge when an official court reporter is appointed, the clerk of said court shall tax up the sum of fifteen dollars, to be collected as other costs, and paid by said clerk to the director of revenue of the state.
