An insurer shall not deny the enrollment of a child pursuant to an order for medical coverage, under a policy of health insurance pursuant to which a parent of the child is insured, on the ground that the child:

Terms Used In Nevada Revised Statutes 689A.440

  • Dependent: A person dependent for support upon another.
  • insured: as used in this chapter , shall not be construed as preventing a person other than the insured with a proper insurable interest from making application for and owning a policy covering the insured or from being entitled under such a policy to any indemnities, benefits and rights provided therein. See Nevada Revised Statutes 689A.310

1.  Was born out of wedlock;

2.  Has not been claimed as a dependent on the parent’s federal income tax return; or

3.  Does not reside with the parent or within the insurer’s geographic area of service.
