Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 38-A:19

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
The authority shall not be subject to regulation by the New Hampshire public utilities commission except that such authority may not conduct its operations beyond the city or town limits in which it is located without the approval of the public utilities commission pursuant to procedure provided by the statute and regulations covering said commission pertaining to similar service by other common carriers operating under the jurisdiction of said commission.
