Terms Used In New Hampshire Revised Statutes 478:11

  • Mortgagee: The person to whom property is mortgaged and who has loaned the money.
  • Mortgagor: The person who pledges property to a creditor as collateral for a loan and who receives the money.
  • person: may extend and be applied to bodies corporate and politic as well as to individuals. See New Hampshire Revised Statutes 21:9
If the name of the person whose property or estate is conveyed in either of the cases aforesaid does not appear, or if the name of the original mortgagor or mortgagee of property foreclosed does not appear, the grantors or mortgagors shall be referred to as unknown in the index of grantors under the letter U, and the original mortgagee in the same manner in the index of grantees.
