Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 40:66-8

  • Solid waste: means garbage, refuse, and other discarded materials resulting from industrial, commercial and agricultural operations, and from domestic and community activities, and shall include all other waste materials including liquids, except for solid animal and vegetable wastes collected by swine producers licensed by the State Department of Agriculture to collect, prepare and feed such wastes to swine on their own farms.   • Solid waste collection: means the activity related to pick-up and transportation of solid waste from its source or location to a solid waste facility or other destination. See New Jersey Statutes 40:66-1.1
The governing body of any municipality which operated a solid waste collection district as of December 31, 1989, may, by ordinance and subject to the approval of the Local Finance Board of the Department of Community Affairs, set off and create within its boundaries a district, covering all or a portion of the area of the municipality, which district shall be known as a solid waste collection district. The governing body may, by ordinance and subject to the approval of the Local Finance Board of the Department of Community Affairs, alter the boundaries of any solid waste collection district so created.
