Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 40A:5-37

  • local unit: means any county, municipality, special district or any public body corporate and politic created or established under any law of this State by or on behalf of any one or more counties or municipalities, or any board, commission, department or agency of any of the foregoing having custody of funds, but shall not include a school district. 40A:5-37. Upon application to the Superior Court by a citizen and taxpayer thereof, alleging that the condition of the bond of any officer, member of committee or employee of the local unit has been broken, the court shall make such investigation regarding the truth of the allegations as it shall deem proper, and in its discretion may order an action to be brought upon the bond in the name of the local unit, or otherwise, for the benefit of the local unit or any officer, board or department thereof.
