When developing the base budget, as defined by N.C. Gen. Stat. § 143C-1-1, the Director of the Budget shall include increased funding for the NC Prekindergarten (NC Pre-K) program by an additional nine million three hundred fifty thousand dollars ($9,350,000) for the 2019-2020 fiscal year and by an additional eighteen million seven hundred thousand dollars ($18,700,000) for the 2020-2021 fiscal year.
