(a)  Each employer shall furnish to each of his or her employees a place of employment that is free from recognized safety and health hazards that are causing, or are likely to cause, death or serious physical harm to the employees.

Terms Used In Rhode Island General Laws 28-20-8

  • Employer: means a person, firm, corporation, partnership, association, receiver or trustee in bankruptcy having one or more persons in his, her, or its employ, a state agency, or an agency of a political subdivision of the state, or any person acting, directly or indirectly, in the interest of an employer. See Rhode Island General Laws 28-20-1

(b)  Each employer shall comply with occupational safety and health codes promulgated under this chapter.
