Terms Used In Rhode Island General Laws 8-15-8

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.

The repeal was contingent on approval of an amendment to Article 2, § 1 of the Rhode Island Constitution, which was approved at the general election on November 7, 2006.
