Terms Used In South Carolina Code 37-6-609

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
Decisions of the Consumer Advocate respecting whether, when, or how to initiate, continue, or intervene in proceedings under §§ 37-6-601 to 37-6-608, are in the sole discretion of the Consumer Advocate, except as modified by order of a court of competent jurisdiction.
