Terms Used In South Carolina Code 38-71-60

  • Insurer: includes a corporation, fraternal organization, burial association, other association, partnership, society, order, individual, or aggregation of individuals engaging or proposing or attempting to engage as principals in any kind of insurance or surety business, including the exchanging of reciprocal or interinsurance contracts between individuals, partnerships, and corporations.   • Policy: means a contract of insurance. See South Carolina Code 38-1-20
The acknowledgment of any insurer of the receipt of notice given under any policy covered by this chapter, the furnishing of forms for filing proofs of loss, the acceptance of proofs of loss, or the investigation of any claim thereunder does not operate as a waiver of any of the rights of the insurer in defense of any claim arising under the policy.
