Any person desiring to use the benefits of either § 33-6-5 or 33-6-6 shall apply to the Department of the Military. The adjutant general shall determine if that person is entitled to the benefits of §§ 33-6-5 to 33-6-8, inclusive. The adjutant general may promulgate rules pursuant to chapter 1-26 to accomplish the purposes of §§ 33-6-5 to 33-6-8, inclusive, and to establish the procedures for determining awards, the records to be maintained and the procedure for an appeal.

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
