  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

The commission shall provide information to the public concerning whether jails under the commission’s jurisdiction are in compliance with state law and the rules, standards, and procedures of the commission:
(1) on any publicly accessible Internet website maintained by the commission; and
(2) through other formats, including newsletters or press releases, as determined by the commission.
