(a) A state employee who normally works 40 hours a week on a schedule other than Monday through Friday is entitled to paid holiday time off during the fiscal year equal to eight hours multiplied by the number of national and state holidays in the fiscal year as determined under § 662.005.
(b) A state employee to whom Subsection (a) applies who works less than the entire fiscal year is entitled to paid holiday time off during the fiscal year equal to eight hours multiplied by the number of national and state holidays that occur during the period worked by the employee under § 662.005.

  • Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
  • Week: means seven consecutive days. See Texas Government Code 311.005
  • Year: means 12 consecutive months. See Texas Government Code 311.005

(c) The paid holiday time off of a part-time state employee who works on a schedule other than Monday through Friday must be proportionally reduced to account for the fewer hours the employee normally works.
