Terms Used In Texas Government Code 814.102

  • Annuity: A periodic (usually annual) payment of a fixed sum of money for either the life of the recipient or for a fixed number of years. A series of payments under a contract from an insurance company, a trust company, or an individual. Annuity payments are made at regular intervals over a period of more than one full year.

Except as provided by rule adopted under § 813.304(d) or § 803.202(a)(2), a member who has service credit in the elected class of membership, is eligible to retire and receive a service retirement annuity if the member:
(1) is at least 60 years old and has 8 years of service credit in that class; or
(2) is at least 50 years old and has 12 years of service credit in that class.
