  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • Written: includes any representation of words, letters, symbols, or figures. See Texas Government Code 311.005

Each health insurance policy, health benefit plan certificate, endorsement, amendment, application, or rider must:
(1) be written in plain language;
(2) be in a readable and understandable format; and
(3) comply with all applicable requirements relating to minimum readability requirements.
