Terms Used In Texas Insurance Code 1359.002

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.

This chapter applies only to a group health benefit plan that is a group policy, contract, or certificate of health insurance or an evidence of coverage delivered, issued for delivery, or renewed in this state by:
(1) an insurance company;
(2) a group hospital service corporation operating under Chapter 842; or
(3) a health maintenance organization operating under Chapter 843.
