  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.

If the commissioner denies an application for a certificate of authority as provided by this chapter or suspends, revokes, or refuses to renew a certificate at a hearing as provided by this chapter, the applicant or certificate holder may appeal the commissioner’s action as provided by Subchapter D, Chapter 36.
