The department by rule may establish a process for verifying the identity of an item listed in § 501.0321(a) as an alternative to an identification number inspection under § 501.0321. The rules may include the persons authorized to perform the inspection, when an alternative inspection under this section is required, and any fees that may be assessed. Any fee authorized must comply with Sections 501.0321(e) and (f).
