17B-2a-822. Multicounty district may employ or contract for law enforcement officers — Law enforcement officer status, powers, and jurisdiction.

The board of trustees of a multicounty district may employ law enforcement officers or contract with other law enforcement agencies to provide law enforcement services for the district. |
Terms Used In Utah Code 17B-2a-822
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Multicounty district: means a public transit district located in more than one county. See Utah Code 17B-2a-802

A law enforcement officer employed or provided by contract under Subsection (1) is a law enforcement officer under Section 53-13-103 and shall be subject to the provisions of that section. |
