Terms Used In Utah Code > Title 63G > Chapter 27 - Anti-boycott Israel Act
- Affected person: means :
(a) a person who is a record interest holder of the real property that is the subject of a recorded nonconsensual common law document; or (b) the person against whom a recorded nonconsensual common law document purports to reflect or establish a claim or obligation. See Utah Code 38-9-102 - Boycott action: means refusing to deal, terminating business activities, or limiting commercial relations. See Utah Code 63G-27-102
- Common law: The legal system that originated in England and is now in use in the United States. It is based on judicial decisions rather than legislative action.
- Company: includes any wholly-owned subsidiary, majority-owned subsidiary, parent company, or affiliate of an entity described in Subsection (3)(a). See Utah Code 63G-27-102
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- Document sponsor: means a person who, personally or through a designee, signs or submits for recording a document that is, or is alleged to be, a nonconsensual common law document. See Utah Code 38-9-102
- Nonconsensual common law document: means a document that is submitted to a county recorder's office for recording against public official property that:
(a) purports to create a lien or encumbrance on or a notice of interest in the real property; (c) is submitted in relation to the public official's status or capacity as a public official. See Utah Code 38-9-102 - Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
- Person: means :Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Public entity: means the state or a political subdivision of the state, including each department, division, office, board, commission, council, authority, or institution of the state or a political subdivision of the state. See Utah Code 63G-27-102
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
