Terms Used In Utah Code > Title 63M > Chapter 7 > Part 9 - Utah Victim Services Commission

  • Advice and consent: Under the Constitution, presidential nominations for executive and judicial posts take effect only when confirmed by the Senate, and international treaties become effective only when the Senate approves them by a two-thirds vote.
  • Commission: means the Utah Victim Services Commission. See Utah Code 63M-7-901
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Defense attorney: Represent defendants in criminal matters.
  • Member: means a member of the Utah Victim Services Commission. See Utah Code 63M-7-901
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • Process: means a writ or summons issued in the course of a judicial proceeding. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
  • Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business.
  • Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
  • State domestic violence coalition: means the same as that term is defined in 45 C. See Utah Code 63M-7-901
  • State sexual assault coalition: means the same as that term is defined in 34 U. See Utah Code 63M-7-901
  • Tribal coalition: means the same as that term is defined in 34 U. See Utah Code 63M-7-901
  • Victim Services Restricted Account: means the account created in Section 63M-7-219. See Utah Code 63M-7-901
