Terms Used In Vermont Statutes Title 13 Sec. 4821

  • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
  • Person: shall include any natural person, corporation, municipality, the State of Vermont or any department, agency, or subdivision of the State, and any partnership, unincorporated association, or other legal entity. See
  • State: when applied to the different parts of the United States may apply to the District of Columbia and any territory and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. See

§ 4821. Notice of hearing; procedures

The person who is the subject of the proceedings, his or her attorney, the legal guardian, if any, the Commissioner of Mental Health or the Commissioner of Disabilities, Aging, and Independent Living, and the State‘s Attorney or other prosecuting officer representing the State in the case shall be given notice of the time and place of a hearing under 4820 of this title. Procedures for hearings for persons with a mental illness shall be as provided in 18 Vt. Stat. Ann. chapter 181. Procedures for hearings for persons with an intellectual disability shall be as provided in 18 Vt. Stat. Ann. chapter 206, subchapter 3. (Added 1969, No. 20, § 8; amended 1987, No. 248 (Adj.
