Terms Used In Vermont Statutes Title 18 Sec. 615

  • Health officer: means Commissioner of Health, the Commissioner's designee, or a local or district health officer. See
  • Public health hazard: means the potential harm to the public health by virtue of any condition or any biological, chemical, or physical agent. See
  • Public health risk: means the probability of experiencing a public health hazard. See
  • Town: shall include city and wards or precincts therein; "selectboard members" and "board of civil authority" shall extend to and include the mayor and aldermen of cities; "trustees" shall extend to and include bailiffs of incorporated villages; and the laws applicable to the inhabitants and officers of towns shall be applicable to the inhabitants and similar officers of all municipal corporations. § 615. Approval of selectboard

A local health officer shall not incur significant expense to the town or city for the prevention, removal, or destruction of any public health hazard or the mitigation of any public health risk without the consent and approval of the selectboard of such town or city.
