Terms Used In Vermont Statutes Title 20 Sec. 186

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • office: includes all State and local offices, the powers and duties of which are defined by the Constitution, statutes, charters, and ordinances, except the office of Governor, and except those in the General Assembly and the Judiciary. See

§ 186. Emergency interim successors for local appointed officers

The legislative branch of a municipal corporation, as defined in 24 V.S.A. § 1751, shall, with the same effect as in section 185 of this title, designate emergency interim successors to any officer appointed by it, and likewise review and revise designations so made, as shall also the assistant judges of the Superior Court to any officer appointed by them. Copies of all such designations and revisions shall likewise be filed in the office of the county clerk. (Added 1959, No. 13, § 7, eff. March 4, 1959; amended 1973, No. 193 (Adj. Sess.), § 3, eff.
