Terms Used In Vermont Statutes Title 21 Sec. 680
- Assets: (1) The property comprising the estate of a deceased person, or (2) the property in a trust account.
- Employer: includes any body of persons, corporate or unincorporated, public or private, and the legal representative of a deceased employer, and includes the owner or lessee of premises or other person who is virtually the proprietor or operator of the business there carried on, but who, by reason of there being an independent contractor or for any other reason, is not the direct employer of the workers there employed. § 680. Preferences
All rights of compensation granted by the provisions of this chapter shall have the same preference or priority against the assets of the employer or the property of any persons described in subsection 687(b) of this title as is allowed by 9 V.S.A. § 1972. (Amended 1997, No. 19, § 6.)
