Terms Used In New Jersey Statutes 40:49-6
- person: includes corporations, companies, associations, societies, firms, partnerships and joint stock companies as well as individuals, unless restricted by the context to an individual as distinguished from a corporate entity or specifically restricted to one or some of the above enumerated synonyms and, when used to designate the owner of property which may be the subject of an offense, includes this State, the United States, any other State of the United States as defined infra and any foreign country or government lawfully owning or possessing property within this State. At least one week prior to such time fixed for further consideration for final passage of such ordinance, a copy thereof, together with a notice of the introduction thereof, and the time and place when and where the ordinance will be further considered for final passage, shall be mailed to every person whose lands may be affected by the ordinance or any assessment which may be made in pursuance thereof, so far as the same may be ascertained, directed to his last known post-office address.
The owner of any lands may file with the clerk of the municipality, or other official designated by the governing body by resolution or ordinance, a list of lands owned by him with a post-office address to which notice shall be directed.
Failure to mail the notice herein provided for shall not invalidate any ordinance, proceeding or assessment.
