Terms Used In Iowa Code 814.2

  • Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
814.2 Parties — how designated on appeal.
The party seeking review shall be known as the appellant and the adverse party as the
appellee, but the title of the action shall not be changed from that in the district court.
