  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.

(a) A copy of any file, document or record in the custody of the society, duly certified by the secretary of the state historical society or the secretary’s authorized agent, may be received in evidence with the same effect as the original. To partially reimburse the state for the cost of such copies or services the secretary shall prescribe the fees, if any, to be paid for certified copies in amounts approved by the director of accounts and reports under Kan. Stat. Ann. § 45-204, and amendments thereto, and the fees, if any, for search of the files or records when no certified copy is made.

(b) All moneys received under this section shall be remitted to the state treasurer in accordance with the provisions of Kan. Stat. Ann. § 75-4215, and amendments thereto. Upon receipt of each such remittance, the state treasurer shall deposit the entire amount in the state treasury to the credit of the state general fund.
