(a) Members of the commission serve staggered six-year terms, with the terms of one-third of the members expiring in each odd-numbered year.
(b) The governor shall appoint a person to fill a vacancy on the commission to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term.
Terms Used In Texas Occupations Code 651.054
- Person: includes corporation, organization, government or governmental subdivision or agency, business trust, estate, trust, partnership, association, and any other legal entity. See Texas Government Code 311.005
- Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
- Year: means 12 consecutive months. See Texas Government Code 311.005
