- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- hospital project: means and includes any one (1) or more hospitals and related facilities, including, but not limited to, land and interests in land, facilities and equipment for the treatment of all classes of patients, laboratories, clinics, treatment centers, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, extended care facilities, dormitories, training facilities for medical students, doctors, nurses and all other medical or paramedical personnel, administration and office buildings, garages, parking lots and such other structures, facilities and improvements necessary or convenient to the development and maintenance of hospitals, and for the provision of health care. - State: means the state of Tennessee. See Tennessee Code 7-57-103
An authority may exercise any or all of the powers conferred upon it in this chapter, either generally or with respect to any specific hospital project or projects, through or by an agent or agents that it may designate, including any corporation or corporations that are or shall be formed under the laws of this state, and for such purposes an authority may cause one (1) or more corporations to be formed under the laws of this state or may acquire the capital stock of any corporation or corporations. Any corporate agent, all of the stock of which shall be owned by the authority or its nominee or nominees, may, to the extent permitted by law, exercise any of the powers conferred upon the authority in this chapter.
