Terms Used In Iowa Code 303.43

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
 The board of supervisors of the county in which the proposed land use district, or its major portion, is located has jurisdiction of the proceedings on the petition as provided in this chapter and the decision of a majority of the members of that board is necessary for adoption. All orders of the board made under this chapter shall be spread at length upon the records of the proceedings of the board of supervisors, but need not be published.
