For the purposes of this chapter, the following terms shall have the following meanings:

(1) ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE and ACADEMIC CONDITIONS. As used in subdivision (1) of Section State Board of Education” class=”unlinked-ref” datatype=”S” sessionyear=”2020″ statecd=”AL” title=”16″>16-6E-4, may include, but not be limited to, definitions of the same or similar terms and related criteria, circumstances, and conditions identified and described elsewhere in the Code of Alabama 1975. The exercise of intervention authority under this chapter is subject solely to the substantive and procedural preconditions and requirements set forth herein, the existence of any different, conflicting, or inconsistent provisions elsewhere in the Code of Alabama 1975, notwithstanding.

  • following: means next after. See Alabama Code 1-1-1
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories of the United States. See Alabama Code 1-1-1
(2) EDUCATIONAL INTERVENTION and EDUCATIONAL OPERATIONS. All policy making, administrative, academic, operational, financial, and organizational decisions and functions that have a direct or indirect bearing on the development or provision of academic, extracurricular, and support services to students served by city and county boards of education.
(3) PRIORITY SCHOOL. A school that has a majority of its students scoring one or more grade levels below the prescribed state-adopted student assessments or that is designated as a priority school by the State Superintendent of Education.
