  • Tort: A civil wrong or breach of a duty to another person, as outlined by law. A very common tort is negligent operation of a motor vehicle that results in property damage and personal injury in an automobile accident.
Beginning with the 2010-2011 School Year and subsequent years, all substitute teachers hired by DOE shall undergo annual training prior to being placed in any classroom. The training shall, at a minimum, consist of classroom management and student discipline and topics to include, but not limited to: Health and Safety Issues, Child Abuse, Harassment / Sexual Harassment, Relationships with Students, Confidentiality / Tort Liability, Substance Abuse, Non-discrimination, and any other topics identified by the Superintendent.
